Why Industrial Environments Need More Than Standard Grouts
In heavy industry, the floor beneath machinery doesn’t just sit there. It absorbs vibration, transfers loads and holds critical anchor bolts in place. When the grout fails, machinery shifts, bolts loosen and production schedules suffer.
Standard cementitious grouts have limitations. They shrink during curing. They don’t bond chemically to steel. They can crack under dynamic loads.
ASODUR®-EV200 addresses these challenges. It is a three-component, solvent-free epoxy mortar that offers high strength, chemical resistance and reliable adhesion to both concrete and steel.
What Makes This Epoxy Mortar Different
ASODUR-EV200 comes as a complete set with three components:
· Component A: Epoxy resin
· Component B: Hardener
· Component C: Filler aggregates
When mixed in the correct proportions, it forms a flowable, self-compacting mortar. It can be applied in thicknesses from 10 mm to 200 mm in a single layer.
Key features noted in the TDS:
· Solvent-free formulation
· Low shrinkage
· Self-compacting
· No primer required on properly prepared surfaces
· CE certified to DIN EN 13813 and DIN EN 1504–6
Common Applications in Pakistan
Machine Grouting
Equipment such as turbines, compressors, presses and crane rails require stable, vibration-resistant foundations. ASODUR-EV200 provides the mechanical strength and adhesion needed for these demanding installations.
Anchor Grouting
The TDS recommends a drill hole diameter at least 6 mm larger than the anchor. After cleaning the hole
thoroughly, ASODUR-EV200 is poured in and the anchor is inserted with a rotary motion. This method helps create a reliable, load-bearing connection.
Waterproofing Under Pressure
With water tightness rated up to 5 bar, the mortar can be used for sealing concrete elements that face water pressure. A minimum thickness of 10 mm is required.
Grouting Pillars and Supports
Pillar openings up to 800 mm in height and 300 mm in diameter can be grouted in a single application. This is useful for structural columns, railing posts and guard rail supports.
Railway Construction
ASODUR-EV200 is electrically insulating, making it suitable for railway track applications where electrical isolation is required for signaling systems.
Load Distribution Over Wooden Floors
In renovation projects with wooden floorboards, the mortar can serve as a load distribution layer. Loose boards must be fixed first and open butt joints covered with tape.
Application Process
Surface Preparation
For concrete: dry to matt damp, firm, load-bearing, grippy and free of contaminants.
For metal: apply within 4 hours of cleaning. Beyond that, use ASODUR-SG3-thix corrosion protection first.
Mixing
The recommended weight ratio is:
· Component A: 5.04 parts
· Component B: 1.66 parts
· Component C: 23.3 parts
The material temperature should be around +15°C. Add hardener to resin and mix for 3 minutes. Then add filler in portions while mixing for another 3 minutes. Allow brief resting time for air to escape.
Anchor Grouting
Drill hole diameter should be at least 6 mm larger than the anchor. Clean thoroughly, fill with ASODUR-EV200, insert anchor with rotary motion and remove excess immediately.
Machine Grouting
Ensure continuous supply to avoid pockets. Grout from one side only to displace air. Minimum layer thickness is 10 mm. For thicknesses over 200 mm, apply in multiple layers with approximately 12 hours between applications.
Surface Application
Spread mortar in strips and level with a squeegee. After 150–180 minutes, smooth with a surface spatula.
Slip-Resistant Surfaces
After about 120 minutes, sprinkle quartz sand (0.5–1.0 mm) over the surface. Remove surplus after hardening and apply a top coat if needed.
Overcoating
ASODUR-EV200 can be overcoated with other ASODUR coatings between 12 and 72 hours — no primer required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q) Can ASODUR-EV200 be used for roof applications?
Yes, for roof surfaces requiring high mechanical strength and water resistance. For general residential roofing, other systems may be more economical.
Q) Is primer always required?
No. On properly prepared concrete, steel or wood, primer is not needed.
Q) What is the maximum layer thickness?
10 mm to 200 mm in a single application. For thickness exceeding 200 mm, apply in multiple layers.
Q) Can it be applied on damp surfaces?
The substrate can be dry to matt damp. Standing water is not permissible.
Q) What if the overcoating window is missed?
If more than 72 hours pass, clean and roughen the surface, then apply a new coating. Consult technical services for specific guidance.
Conclusion
ASODUR-EV200 is engineered for the most demanding grouting and waterproofing applications. Its high strength, chemical resistance and reliable adhesion make it suitable for industrial machinery foundations, anchor installations and structures subject to water pressure. For engineers and contractors across Pakistan, it offers a durable solution for critical structural connections.
